Being Called by Name — The Lure of Homecoming
With Dr. Enuma Okoro — biblical scholar, activist, author, spiritual director & seminary professor.
Description: We all share in the identity of being children of God. Yet, we were all raised in unique families and places. We have unique ways of understanding what it means to belong, and we each have our own multi-layered definitions of home, How have our experiences and ideas of “home” shaped our identities, both as spiritual beings and as people trying to journey together faithfully through the world? Participants will engage the literary and visual arts to reflect deeper into these questions.
About our Presenter: Enuma Okoro is a Nigerian-American award-winning writer, speaker and communications consultant. She is a widely sought-after speaker at colleges, universities, non-profit organizations, corporate institutions, and
conferences across the United States, Europe, Africa, and Australia. On October 11, 2014 she delivered the TEDx talk, “When Cultures Collide Invitation Erupts” in London. In June, 2012 Enuma had the honor of being the first woman of African descent to preach at the historic American Church in Paris. (Martin Luther King, Jr was the first man of African descent to preach there in October 1965).
